Apollos
Chaselight is the stage name of a young singer/songwriter named
Karlijn Dado. She started playing the piano when she was eight years
old and after a few years of doing that, she became interested in what
music can actually mean to people. While listening to several britpop
bands she seemed to notice the feelings that are put into songs. This
was something she wanted to try to do herself and this is how a few
tiny songs were born. Karlijn seemed interested in putting these
feelings and emotions into music and lyrics and it almost turned into
daily routine for her. At school, at home, everywhere, all she wanted
to do was writing lyrics and becoming just as meaningful as the bands
that she listened to herself. If this happened yet is something that
nobody really knows, but the passion for songwriting went on and on. A
guitar was added and things developed somewhat. Music became darker,
lyrics became deeper and Apollos Chaselight became Karlijn’s
own
little thing.
The name Apollos Chaselight started around the age of fourteen when
Karlijn properly picked up her guitar and actually began writing songs
that all sort of had a certain ‘feeling’ to it.
People
appeared to like these songs and that encouraged Karlijn to really
start up Apollos Chaselight. The name itself might remain a
mystery…
Apollos Chaselight also attended ‘Popsport’ and
‘Kunstbende’ at the age of sixteen. These are both
Dutch
projects that help young artists and musicians start up their little
creative ideas. Things were learnt and more development was made.
Joining ‘Popsport’ also gave Karlijn the
oppurtunity to
record a few songs in a music studio. This happened and six of her
songs were recorded and put on some sort of EP you can sometimes buy
for almost nothing when, of course, Karlijn doesn’t forget to
bring some with her in her guitar bag during gigs.
Around April/May of 2011 Karlijn started writing a lot of new songs,
and a few of these things happened to be the ‘lucky
onces’
to end up on a new EP kind of thing that is slowly being made right
now. And as Karlijn says herself: ‘’it’ll
be
different, it’ll be darker and it’ll be harder to
find the
true meaning behind the songs. It’s not just six songs now,
these
guys tell a story. I doubt if I ever put this much feeling into a
couple of songs. Maybe I’m slowly getting there…
‘’ This collection of songs will be called
‘Pawprints’ and will be available for listeners as
fast as
it’s ready.
